Eco Conscious
We have long felt—as a family and as jewelry makers—that we must live and work in harmony with the earth and its blessings. From eating organically to sourcing our jewelry materials responsibly, our intention is to be eco-conscious in all that we do.
In our daily life, we made a commitment many years ago to tread as lightly as possible on the earth. Lucas and his family have embraced that philosophy wholeheartedly as well. Their garden is the talk of the neighborhood and their young son Jordan has already taken it upon himself to help water, harvest, and deliver extra bounty to families who need a little help. Sophie worked tirelessly to popularize an organic food cooperative in her neighborhood and is passionate about the benefits she and her neighbors derive. The co-op brings them together as a community and they support small growers in the process.
In our business, we strongly believe that the beauty and pleasure we derive from making, giving, and receiving jewelry must never be tarnished by the impact that process has on people, nations, and the planet as a whole.
We are committed to supply chain transparency and to using resources that do not further erode or degrade the planet. We get our gold and silver from from Hoover and Strong, an American supplier that sells only 100% recycled metal and uses only state-of-the-art sustainable refining technology.
To ensure the highest quality and integrity in each piece, Carl and Lucas personally choose every gemstone. Wherever possible we use Fair Trade Gems, and are constantly researching new sources to expand our offering. We only use recycled or conflict-free diamonds. Our elegant packaging—a hallmark of Priolo and Co.—is American made of recycled materials. Even Sophie’s boyfriend Jarrod Holt, a recognized graphic designer, contributed by creating our logo and cards.
We are now shifting to an e-commerce business model after almost two decades in our retail store to further reduce our footprint and to establish what we call an eco-chic lifestyle brand: offering jewelry and other lifestyle products made using ecologically sound practices but without comprising elegance, style, luxury, or beauty.
A portion of our profits goes to organizations working to preserve and protect our earth: Forests Forever and Friends of the Earth. We also support Women for Women International, which provides education and resources to women in war torn nations.
